Saw a sobering tweet the other day that
gave me pause for thought about the way print touches pretty much every aspect
of a person's life, and death.
It came from Mike Handley at
Graphic Results in Belper (@graphic_results) and the tweet said: "Today sorted
out the printing of the order of service for the funeral of a 23 year lad, our
thoughts are with the family."
It made me think about the varied
skill set Mike and his team, and other community printers like this, need to
deal professionally and empathically with a customer who brings with them such
a sad task.
And - having recently had the
happier task of buying suitable cards to celebrate a friend's new baby and
another's marriage - it also made me think that when it comes to really big
life events, only the permanence of print on paper will do.
