Printer’s Devil – it’s in the detail

Events, dear reader, events

To say that next year is going to be a busy one, events-wise, is something of an understatement.

It's 188 days until Drupa 2012. Before we burst into song as the big one kicks off in Dusseldorf, it's a mere 117 days until Fespa Digital in Barcelona in February. In March it's the 25th anniversary show for Sign & Digital UK. And we at PrintWeek will be busy in Miami during March, producing the Show Daily at the Graphics of the Americas expo and conference.

Then, after a brief summery lull, come the first week of September it will be IIR's inaugural Cross Media Live event in London. Later the same month comes another first in the shape of the new Digital Print UK show at Birmingham's NEC, which is being put on by Sign & Digital organiser Faversham House.

Still in September, the very next week we have another inaugural happening, the new Eco Print Live event in Berlin that's the brainchild of former Fespa expo maestros Frazer Chesterman and Marcus Timson.

Phew!

The ex-Fespa duo certainly have an established track record in putting on successful events and I understand they have just secured the support of AN Big Name stakeholder for Eco Print Live.

The vision for this event is a sort of hybrid between a summit and trade show, it's going to be fascinating to see if there's a, erm, sustainable industry appetite for an event based around sustainability. I've no doubt Frazer and Marcus will be able to leverage their enviable wide-format contacts, although the billing for Eco Print is very much not all about wide-format.

Whether they will be able to garner support from the commercial side of the print fence, in a Drupa year at that, will be the next interesting thing.
